After a decent opening weekend, Diljit Dosanjh – Taapsee Pannu’s Soorma remained almost steady over the weekdays after a usual drop and completed its first week on a reputed note. Directed by Shaad Ali, the movie was released last Friday with good expectations.
Based on the greatest comeback story of Hockey legend Sandeep Singh, Soorma has received almost positive reviews from the critics but got failed to attract major audience toward theatres. As a result, it did the business of 13.85 crores in the opening weekend with 3.20 crores on Friday, 5.05 crores on Saturday, and 5.60 crores on Sunday.
Then on weekdays, it faced a drop in footfalls but remained steady and minted the amount of 2 crores on Monday, 1.94 crores on Tuesday, and 1.77 crores on Wednesday. On the next day i.e. Thursday, the movie raked 1.65 crores and raised its one week total collection to 21.21 crores from 1100 screens nationwide.
On the other hand, the awaited Hollywood superhero sci-fi Ant-Man And The Wasp managed to take a good start with positive feedback and did the business of 19.30 crores in the weekend, that included 5.50 crores of Friday, 7 crores of Saturday & 6.80 crores of Sunday.
On Weekdays, after an abrupt drop, the second installment Ant-Man franchise collected the amount of 2.50 crores on Monday, 2.05 crores on Tuesday, and 1.90 crores on Wednesday. On Thursday, it bagged 1.70 crores and raised its one week total collection to 27.45 crores nett (35.19 crores gross) from 1300+ screens across India.
