Showing the power of content, horror comedy Stree has registered an excellent second weekend after a strong opening week. Despite having several new Hindi offerings and the much-awaited Hollywood’s The Nun, the movie remained unaffected and become the 10th highest grosser of the year so far by surpassing PadMan (81.82 crores).
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience across India and gained a solid word of mouth. As a result, it registered the business of 60.39 crores in the first week that included 32.27 crores on the weekend and 28.12 crores on weekdays from 1950 screens.
Then in the second weekend, Maddock Films’ production showed a terrific hold over the audience in single as well as multi-screen cinemas. On 2nd Friday, it did the business of 4.39 crores after a drop of 20.2% than the previous day. On 2nd Saturday, with a super jump, it raked 7.63 crores from 1770 screens nationwide.
On the next day i.e. 2nd Sunday, Stree recorded further growth and minted the amount of 9.88 crores. After 10 days, the total collection of AA Films’ presentation has become 82.29 crores nett at the domestic box office. As per the current trend, it seems capable to join the 100-crore club by the third weekend.
On the other hand, Dharmendra, Sunny Deol & Bobby Deol starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Sehas got failed to impress the viewers and got a mixed response. In the first week, it registered the business of 11.37 crores with 6.82 crores on the weekend and 4.55 crores on weekdays.
In the second weekend, Navaniat Singh’s directorial the third installment of franchise Yamla Pagla Deewana has witnessed an average jump and collected the amount of 2.25 crores with 0.30 crore on 2nd Friday, 0.50 crore on 2nd Saturday & 0.60 crore on 2nd Sunday. After 10 days, the total collection of YPD Phir Se has become 12.77 crores.
