Surprisingly despite having much-buzzed Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se in the parallel, Shraddha Kapoor & Rajkummar Rao starrer horror comedy Stree has registered an excellent opening weekend and on weekdays as well, it is running strongly on the single as well as multi-screen cinemas.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films, Stree is based on an unusual plot but still got succeed to hit the target very right and become hit within the 4 days of release. On Friday, it opened on a solid note and did the business of 6.83 crores at the domestic box office.
Then with a healthy growth over the weekend, it raked the business of 10.87 crores on Saturday and 14.57 crores on Sunday. After the weekend, its total collection was recorded at 32.27 crores from 1800 screens across the country.
Now it is running on weekdays with a steady pace despite normal working days. On Monday, due to Janmashtami holiday, it minted the amount of 9.70 crores. On the next day i.e. Tuesday, Stree faced a drop of around 49.49% and bagged the amount of 6.37 crores to take its 5 days total collection to 48.34 crores nett.
On the other hand, Dharmendra, Sunny Deol & Bobby Deol starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se has received mixed reviews from the critics as well as the audience. In the opening weekend, on a low note, it did the business of 6.82 crores, that included 1.82 crores on Friday, 1.98 crores on Saturday, and 3.02 crores on Sunday.
Now on weekdays, it is struggling more to divert the crowd toward itself. On Monday despite the holiday, it raked the business of 1.50 crores. Then on Tuesday, with a further drop, YPD Phir Se collected the amount of 1.25 crores and raised 5 days total collection to 9.57 crores nett.
