Student Of The Year 2 1st Day Box Office Collection, SOTY 2 takes a Good Opening!

The sequel to 2012’s Student Of The Year with a new story has finally hit the screens on Friday amid good expectations of moviegoers. Unexpectedly, Student Of The Year 2 has received mixed reviews from the critics but still managed to open at a good note across the country.

Directed by Punit Malhotra, the new installment stars Tiger Shroff along with two new pretty faces Tara Sutaria & Ananya Panday in lead roles. Surprisingly everyone has found debutantes better in the film as they have given a charming performance. Especially, the daughter of actor Chunky Pandey, Ananya who is entertaining throughout.

Most critics are not convinced with the storyline of Student Of The Year 2 and rated it low. On Friday, the film opened at an average note with an occupancy of around 20-25% in the morning. Despite mixed reactions, it recorded a fair jump post noon shows and registered the opening business of 12.06 crores nett from 3100 screens.

As compared to the earlier installment (7.48 crores), SOTY 2 has taken a 61.23% higher opening. With this, Dharma Productions & Fox Star Studios’ presentation has emerged as the 5th highest opener of the year so far in Hindi Cinema. Also, it has become the second best opener for Tiger Shroff after his last year’s Baaghi 2 (25.10 crores).

Despite the mixed word of mouth, Student Of The Year 2 is expected to take a decent growth on Saturday because it still attracts the youth audience. So it has a possible chance to rake around 40 crores in the opening weekend at the domestic box office.
