Disney’s The Jungle Book Gets Outstanding Response in India
Walt Disney’s latest offering, the fantasy adventure film The Jungle Book has completed its opening weekend in the country on an excellent note. The film not only dominated the record of previous Hollywood film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice but also emerged as second highest opener and opening weekend grosser of the year so far after Airlift. Association of Indian actors and wide scale promotions, is the key for its success. The Jungle Book has been released a week before than its US release, which has also played a major role to make it rule on box office, as next week Shahrukh Khan’s much awaited Hindi film Fan is releasing.
On its very first day, The Jungle Book witnessed the terrific occupancy of 50% across the country and minted the amount of 10.09 cr; which is the second highest opening business figure raked by any film in India this year after Airlift (12.35 cr). On Saturday, being partial holiday it showed decent growth in its business and collected the amount of 13.51 cr. On the last day of weekend, it reported the highest business of 16.87 cr. After the weekend, total collection of The Jungle Book was recorded as 40.47 cr nationwide.
Now the film has entered in weekdays and as often started getting lesser footfall in theaters but still has complete hold over audience. On Monday it faced more than 50% of drop and added the amount of 7.60 cr as its fourth day collection. After the 4 days, total collection of The Jungle Book is recorded as 48.07 cr. It is positively expected to emerge as 2016’s second highest opening week grosser too.
