Year’s highly awaited movie Tubelight was released with enormous buzz and expectations this Friday worldwide. But unfortunately it started the journey on a lower note than expected and remained almost flat over the weekend, due to pre Eid time and mixed reviews from critics.
Superstar Salman Khan starrer this war drama is rejoicing fans as well as most of the audience, but got failed to impress critics completely. Also during Ramzaan, his Muslim fans were not able to watch the movie. Due to which, it recorded lesser footfalls in theaters than earlier prediction.
After second highest opening of the year in Hindi Cinema, Tubelight didn’t witness much growth till Sunday and fetched the business of total 64.77 crores in the opening weekend, that included 21.15 crores of Friday, 21.17 crores of Saturday and 22.45 crores of Sunday.
After an under-performed weekend, Tubelight was expected to take good jump on Monday due to Eid holiday. But unfortunately it reported lower business than last 3 days and bagged the amount of 19.09 crores.
On the next day i.e. Tuesday being normal working day, the movie showed heavy drop in it’s business graph and minted the amount of 12 crores. With this, total 5 days collection of Salman-Kabir’s third collaboration has become 95.86 crores at domestic box office.
Set in 1962 during Sino-Indian war, Tubelight stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, late Om Puri and Isha Talwar in crucial supporting roles, along with superstar Salman Khan in a lead role and Shahrukh Khan in a cameo appearance.
