Single Screens Almost Stop Contributing for ‘Udta Punjab’

Balaji Motion Pictures & Phantom Films’ latest presentation Udta Punjab fared well in the weekend but now in weekdays, it is witnessing abrupt drops in its business graph. Due to censor board controversy, it was buzzing much among audience and that is why it reported so good in weekend. Also it has received positive reviews from critics as well as moviegoers, which increased the excitement of rest.

Everyone liked the movie and especially the performances of lead stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan. They all have just shown brilliant acting in the movie, which holds you till the end. Despite being leaked on the internet before the release, it recorded amazing craze of audience in theaters.

In the opening weekend, Udta Punjab did batter than earlier expectation and minted the amount of 33.80 crores across India, that includes 10.05 crores of Friday, 11.25 crores of Saturday and 12.50 crores of Sunday. Not only from India but from overseas market too, the movie reported quite well business of 8.45 crores till Sunday. So far, it has become the 5th highest opening day and opening weekend grossing movie of the year.

Now the movie is running weekend and getting lesser response than weekend. With almost 55% of drop in its business than Friday, it minted the amount of 4.50 crores on Monday. Then on Tuesday, it faced more drop and did the business of 4 crores. On Wednesday also, it started the day with lesser occupancy and collected the amount of 3.40 crores. At the end of its 5th day, total domestic collection of Udta Punjab has become 45.70 crores.
