Udta Punjab Minted 48.50 Cr in the Opening Week

Last week released, Abhishek Chaubey’s directorial crime thriller Udta Punjab has showed overall good performance in the opening week. After the impressive weekend, it faced abrupt fall in its business but still managed to rake fair business total in the end of week. Due to censor board controversy, the movie has been released with much buzz among audience and received complete benefit of that. Also the critics have reviewed it with positive comments and praised the acting of lead actors.

Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Udta Punjab is received amazing response from audience across the globe. Despite got leaked on internet before the release, it witnessed much excitement of audience as well as fans in theaters. In the opening weekend, it did the business of 33.80 crores, that includes 10.05 crores of Friday, 11.25 crores of Saturday and 12.50 crores of Sunday.

In weekdays, Udta Punjab failed to maintain decent pace and faced big dip in its business graph. With regular decrease in its occupancy, it minted the amount of 4.50 crores on Monday, 4 crores on Tuesday, 3.40 crores on Wednesday and 2.80 crores on Thursday. After a week, total collection of the movie was recorded as 48.50 crores on domestic box office, which is the 5th highest opening week collection record of this year so far.

Now it has entered in the second week and due to Diljit Dosanjh’s new Punjabi movie Sardaar Ji 2, it is facing heavy competition in north Indian regions. On its 2nd Friday, as expected Udta Punjab witnessed more than 55% of drop than previous day and added the amount of 1.45 crore to its account. With this, its 8 days total domestic collection has become 49.95 crores.
