Second Weekend Business Report of ‘Welcome Back’

Anees Bazmee’s directorial latest comedy movie Welcome Back was released on 4th September on around 3200 screens in India. The movie has received mixed reviews from critics but still succeed in collecting excellent amount in its first week. Audience find its very entertaining and their support made it to collect good at box office. It has registered 2015’s third highest opening weekend total after Bajrangi Bhaijaan & Brothers and second highest opening week total after Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Welcome Back it the sequel of 2007’s super hit movie Welcome. It features ensemble cast of its prequel, that includes Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar & Paresh Rawal. Akshay Kumar & Katrina Kaif are not in the latest installment, this time the lead couple has been replaced by John Abraham & Shruti Haasan. Viewers are little bit disappointed with the absence of Akshay in the movie and saying ‘movie could be more hilarious, if Akshay was there!’

In its first week, Welcome Back was done the business of total 74.02 crores at domestic box office that included 51 crores of weekend & 23.02 crores of weekdays. Now the movie is running in its second week and has already covered the second weekend. On its 8th day, it was recorded a drop of 40% in its business than previous day and minted around 2.61 crores.  On the next day i.e. Saturday, being weekend it showed good jump and made the amount of 4.38 crores as its 9th day collection.

On its 10th day, being Sunday Welcome Back witnessed more growth and done the business of around 5.41 crores. Till the end of its second weekend, total collection of the movie is recorded as 86.42 crores. The movie is heading towards 100 crore mark with good pace and expected to achieve it till the end of its third weekend.
