Happy New Year Movie (HNY) Review- Over Promotion resulted in Negative

So finally, we have watched the movie Happy New Year for which we were waiting from a long time. Today the Shahrukh Khan starrer year’s one of the biggest movie Happy New Year has been released worldwide on around 6000 screens in which 5000 screens are from India and rest in overseas.

For its first day HNY has almost 90% occupancy in India so it is expected that the movie will collect very high collection today. But it is very sad to know that it is getting mixed response from public & critics. Almost everyone is little bit disappointed with the movie except SRK’s fans.

Storyline: The story of the movie is same as previous big releases; the same story of heist for a revenge which we have already seen in Kick, Bang Bang & Dhoom 3. Movie starts with the dance competition (World Dance Championship) grand finale where everyone is seeking for the Team India (Charlie, Jag, Nandu, Tammy, Rohan & Mohini) who are missing from the venue i.e. Atlantis- Dubai. Then the flashback get started, Charlie (Shahrukh Khan) tells why & how he made a plan for this diamond heist.

Actually he want to take a revenge from Mr. Charan Grover (Jackie Shroff) because of whom his father Late Manohar Sharma (Anupam Kher) got arrested in a heist case which was a pre-planned trap of Charan Grover. To implement his plan, Charlie reassemble his father’s work-mate Tammy (Boman Irani) who was a legal lock cracker and his old friend Jag (Sonu Sood) who was ex-bomb squad officer. Now to complete his team, Charlie recruit Rohan (Vivaan Shah) who is a hacker & Nandu (Abhishek Bachchan) who is a drunker of slum area but he is a duplicate of Grover’s son Vicky Grover (Abhishek Bachchan in double role), so Nandu is master key for them to get entry in security area. Then for the same reason, they participate in World Dance Championship and to learn dance they appoint Mohini (Deepika Padukone) who is a bar dancer but later she become a part of their team. Now the team of these 6 is having only one similar quality; that they all are losers. Now to know how these losers win this battle of revenge, you have to watch the movie.

Acting: If we talk about the acting done by the cast is good but in many scenes you will find it as “Over Acting”.

Action: Action sequences in the movie are not so interesting except one fight scene between Charlie and the captain of Korean Dance Team.

Location: Most of the scenes in movie are picturized in Dubai and no doubt it is very beautiful which reflects the fact why the budget of the movie is so high.

Music: Music has already declared as hit from critics, but as per the audience the music of the movie is just an average.

Review: The movie Happy New Year starts with boredom but after 30-40 minutes some comic scenes and music helps you to keep watching it. Then Dubai’s beauty and the heist planning grow up some interest in the story. In short the movie is Paisa Vasool but not up to the mark, which could make it better.

Why to watch: If you are Bollywood lover, then you should not miss such big budgeted multi-starrer movie.

Why not to watch: If you are not Shahrukh’s fan and do not want to watch old story with new starcast and location.
